Zenzic CAM Testbed Fuels BLUESKEYE AI's Driver Monitoring Fatigue Detection Development
BLUESKEYE AI, a developer of clinical-grade facial expression analysis software, has announced the successful completion of its test-track validation. Leveraging the CAM Testbed, BLUESKEYE AI has collected critical data that is significantly advancing its fatigue prediction algorithm, with implications for both driver safety and wellbeing.
20 participants drove for up to four hours on a test track with a safety driver, providing BLUESKEYE AI with invaluable data on driver fatigue. The study revealed that nearly all participants experienced fatigue, with many needing to stop before the four-hour mark due to reaching maximum fatigue levels. This real-world data has been processed and analysed by BLUESKEYE AI, and is now being used to validate the company's fatigue prediction algorithm.
"The results of this testing are extremely encouraging and demonstrate the potential of our technology to significantly improve road safety and driver wellbeing," said Professor Michel Valstar, the Chief Evangelist Scientific Officer and Co-founder of BLUESKEYE AI. "By accurately and proactively detecting driver fatigue, as well as other critical factors like social and emotional distraction, we can help prevent accidents and make roads safer for everyone. The CAM Testbed has been instrumental in allowing us to gather this crucial data and accelerate the development of our life-saving solutions."
BLUESKEYE’s technology analyses facial expressions to detect subtle changes associated with fatigue, intoxication, and social and emotional distraction, providing a non-intrusive and objective measure of driver alertness and emotional state. This offers a unique solution addressing the critical challenge of social and emotional distraction, areas where alternative solutions are lacking. The company anticipates its technology will offer superior accuracy in detecting both distraction and fatigue.
Beyond safety, BLUESKEYE’s technology has the potential to enhance driver wellbeing by enabling adaptive cabins that reduce stress, reinvigorate drivers, and even improve mood through empathetic voice coaches. It can also contribute to early detection of treatable health conditions that could impact fitness to drive, and open up new revenue streams through health services for OEMs who integrate the technology. BLUESKEYE’s solution is designed for seamless integration with any Tier 1 supplier, offering OEMs maximum flexibility.
This progress builds upon previous support from the UK government through the CAM Scale-Up UK program, which provided funding to accelerate BLUESKEYE AI's innovations in the CAM sector.
