“Human and Beyond”: Blueskeye AI Sponsors Workshop at ACII 2024

Blueskeye AI is sponsoring a workshop at the upcoming 12th International Conference on Affective Computing and Intelligent Interaction Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. The conference which takes place in September 2024, has the theme “Human and Beyond”.

In line with the conference theme, the workshop will explore the use of virtual agents or social robots powered by face, voice, and language Foundation Models to create mental health and wellbeing applications. It is believed the workshop will be the first of its kind dedicated solely to integrating AI technologies with social robots or virtual humans for mental health purposes.

“We believe ACII 2024 offers the perfect platform to explore this critical area,” said Prof Michel Valstar, co-founder and Chief Evangelist and Scientific Officer (CESO) of Blueskeye AI.

“The workshop will explore the potential use of virtual agents and foundation models to create mental health applications and also identify and address potential barriers to progress. The event will bring together researchers from the Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVA) and ACII communities, fostering a space to share ideas, best practices, and ultimately pave the way for innovative solutions to current mental health challenges."

The workshop is calling for papers exploring the application of foundation models in mental health apps using virtual humans or social robots. The closing date for the submission of papers is 16 May. The best paper will receive a £500 prize sponsored by Blueskeye AI.

The workshop is being co-chaired by Dr. Joy Egede, Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham and Blueskeye CESO Professor Michel Valstar. They will be supported by Dr. Nick Cummins (King’s College London), Professor Prof Pierre Philip, University of Bordeaux and Sharon Mozgai at the University of Southern California.
